Genetically Modified Plants and Environmental Safety: a Critical Analysis1

چکیده
The Brazilian regulatory process is internationally recognized as one of the strictest and most complete in the world. The 1st Biosafety Law was enacted in January 1995 (Law no. 8.974/ 95) and only set the guidelines for the control of activities related to the exposure, handling, and use of organisms and products derived by recombinant DNA technology. A decade later, this law was replaced by a new Biosafety Law No. 11.105/05, which currently regulates the use of biotechnology in the country. This law establishes safety standards and mechanisms for monitoring activities involving genetically modified organisms – GMOs and their derivatives, creates the National Biosafety Council – CNBS, restructures the National Technical Commission on Biosafety – CTNBio and regulates the National Biosafety Policy – PNB.

Study and Comparison of Genetically and Non-Genetically Modified Rice from View Point of Possibility of Gene Transferring in Blood of Labouraty Animal
Introduction: Genetically modified plants species of plants are produced by the genetic engineering of agricultural science and the addition of specific genes in their genetic sequences with the aim of optimizing the product and creating desirable traits. This study examined the remains of Cry1A(b) and P35 genes in blood of rats fed with genetically modified rice. Methods: This study was exper...
متن کاملAn Overview of Challenges in Producing and Consuming Transgenic Products
The production and consumption of genetically modified (GM) products are highly controversial due to their environmental, health, and ethical impacts. Most of these disputes are caused by distrust of regulatory authorities, scientists, and technocratic decisions. Among all these concerns, health issues, allergenicity and antibiotic resistance are more important. Many of today's social developme...
